:: Interview de Lisa Lashes

- Tell us about Lashed ?

Lashed is basically an extension of myself and my music, an effort to provide fans with greater entertainment value and more pure, good fun. We started up in Ibiza after years of talking about it because no one there was doing the harder sound. Then it spread around the world to places like Australia and Russia, and now we’re back in the UK & Ireland for a new tour.

- What is the Lashed policy for clubbing ?

To be as decadent as possible ! We don’t really have a policy, we just want the people who come to our parties to have the time of their lives, and so we try and do everything to achieve this. That’s why we stay open-minded about the music for instance ; we play hard dance as well as breaks, trance, techno and electro.

- Who is the perfect Lashed guest DJ ?

Someone who gives all they’ve got and creates an interaction with the crowd, whatever style of music they play.

- What other genres/artists/labels are you looking at, at the moment and thinking : “I quite like that !” ?

I’m really excited about BK’s new label Riot ! Recordings. His first release “Insane” was absolutely brilliant and sold-out in its first day. With his label, he intends to cross over all genres which I think is a good thing.

- What have you been doing with your summer other than playing records and what’s been your favourite part ?

It’s been really hectic actually, I didn’t stop ! I had an amazing time in Ibiza as usual. Year after year, I always have the best fun there.

- What are your opinions on the whole Hard Dance scene at the moment and how do you see it developing over the next few years ?

I think it’s looking good right now, and there’s a lot more to expect from it with up and coming young talented DJs like A-Star. I also like the fact that the more acclaimed DJs are diversifying their sets with infusions of breaks, trance or techno even.

- Do you have any new production work we should be looking out for ?

I’ve been in the studio lately with BK doing some experimental stuff. But we haven’t set a release date for anything yet.

- Do you have any new albums or compilations in the pipeline ?

Yes we’re going to do a Lashed album that will be released early 2005. I will be doing a tour at the same time to support it.

- What are your long term plans for your Lashed project ?

We are going to keep trying to expand it as much as we can, take it to places we’ve never been before.

- How long do you see yourself DJing ?

I love DJing and going to clubs. I’ll do it for as long as I can, and that will be for a very long time...

- What is the next step for Lisa Lashes, do you see yourself moving into other parts of the music industry ?

I’m open to everything. I started off by DJing, then I went into production, then onto the Lashed events, and now I’m looking into management for young artists like A-Star. So who knows what I will do next ?!

- What was this year’s festival season like for you and did you enjoy one festival above the others ? It’s hard to pick just one, they were all brilliant. Godskitchen Global Gathering was amazing as usual, I really enjoyed playing it hard at the Bulldog Bash, I got a fantastic response at the Dance Valley festival in Holland, and the closing of the Met in Ireland was mental.

- Where’s the next stop for Lashed and where will you be over the next few months ?

We’re starting a Lashed UK & Ireland tour on November 5th at Heaven in London. We’ll be doing parties everywhere : Birmingham, Nottingham, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland. For more information, go to www.lashedworld.com ; you better get your tickets now because they will quickly sell out !
